Who's won it last year?

The 2022 GINCO-Award was hosted at the International COMIC-SALON Erlangen, who also sponsored the price money and most of our program. Thank you! We'd also like to thank our supporting members and the whole team. Congratulations to all winners of '22! Watch the German event here:

What is GINCO?

GINCO stands for "German Inclusive / Independent Comic". The award serves the purpose of recognising and rewarding comic creators who self-publish, work with small or independent publishers, or work on platforms supporting creator-owned content and similar means. As in the previous year, the prize is endowed with a total of € 1,500, which is awarded in 3 to 5 categories that will be determined by the price committee.

GINGO-Award invites all kinds and formats of comics to enter.
Our goal is to compliment existing awards and structures in the comic scene by creating a common ground, or rather a stage. One  where there is no difference made between, for example, digital and analogue, or comics and manga.
The objective is amplifying visibility for newcomers, and to create a symbol to invite new readers to discover and support diverse styles and content.

GINCO-Award sets out to constantly evolve in favor of its objective. This may result in changes to the
categories, the committee, the type of prizes or the ceremony.

The concept and objective of GINCO Award were developed and realized by Comic Solidarity, Feminist Comic Network, creators of the manga scene and various interdisciplinary participants.
The award is organised purely by volunteer work. The prize money is being funded by donations and supporting memberships.

We're also looking forward to offers of cooperation and partnership.
